As you begin the process, first set a budget. This not only allows you to figure out what you are willing to spend, but it allows you to narrow your options. You won’t go looking at venues that are out of the budget, which saves you time. Once you have your budget, begin your search. Make a list of all the things important to you about your wedding venue. Location, amenities, the overall feel of the venue, etc. Once you have these items nailed down, make a spreadsheet to keep track of the venues and what they offer.
Possible columns for your spreadsheet: Name of Venue, Rates, Capacity, Location, Availability, Parking, Catering, Type, Website, Restrictions and Layout.
You can add and subtract from those, but it will hopefully help you get started in making your spreadsheet.
Once You Have it Narrowed Down
Websites and photos are great, but once you have it narrowed down, we recommend viewing the venue multiple times and making sure you cover every detail. Online reviews help too, so you can see what other brides or couples have experienced.
